About this tour

Hue and Da Nang are both located in Central Vietnam, separated only by the famous Hai Van Pass. Because of their close proximity, the two cities share certain similarities in local dialect and cultural traditions. However, they differ significantly in atmosphere, history, and economic development, making them a fascinating combination for travelers exploring tours in Da Nang and beyond.

Da Nang is a vibrant and modern coastal city, widely recognized as one of the most livable destinations in Vietnam. It attracts visitors with its long white-sand beaches, exciting entertainment parks, and impressive contemporary architecture. As one of the highlights of many tours in Da Nang, the city offers a perfect blend of relaxation, urban charm, and seaside beauty. In contrast, Hue is celebrated as a heritage city, known for its royal tombs, ancient pagodas, and preserved cultural traditions. Peaceful, romantic, and elegant, Hue gives visitors a deeper insight into Vietnam’s imperial history and timeless charm.

Itinerary

From 8:00 to 8:30 AM, our driver and tour guide will pick you up from your hotel in Da Nang.

On the way to Hue, you will visit:

  • Marble Mountains – a group of five marble and limestone hills representing the five elements: Metal, Wood, Water, Fire, and Earth. During this tour, you will explore Water Mountain, the largest and most scenic of the five, known for its caves, pagodas, and panoramic views.
  • Hai Van Pass – one of the most spectacular coastal mountain passes in Vietnam, lying between Da Nang and Hue. The name “Hai Van” means “Sea of Clouds,” and from the pass you can enjoy breathtaking views of the mountains, coastline, and the beautiful Lang Co Beach, famous for its clear blue water.

At around 12:00 PM, you will arrive in Hue and enjoy lunch at a local restaurant.

After lunch and a short break, the tour continues with:

  • Imperial Citadel – the former seat of the Nguyen Dynasty, Vietnam’s last royal family, and one of Hue’s most important historical landmarks.
  • Thien Mu Pagoda – the oldest pagoda in Hue, located about 3 km from the Citadel on the northern bank of the Perfume River. Surrounded by gardens and ornamental plants, the pagoda offers a peaceful and spiritual atmosphere. In the late afternoon, the ringing of its bell adds to the site’s serene beauty.

Afterward, you will board a dragon boat for a relaxing cruise along the Perfume River. At the end of the boat trip, our driver will pick you up at the boat station and transfer you to your hotel in Hue.

At 9:00 AM, after breakfast, the tour continues to some of Hue’s most famous royal sites.

  • Khai Dinh Tomb – an extraordinary tomb that combines both Eastern and Western architectural styles. With guidance from our tour guide, you will explore its unique design and intricate decorative details.
  • Tu Duc Tomb – a beautiful complex featuring palaces, temples, and a royal theater. It is often admired for the harmony between man-made architecture and the surrounding natural landscape.

After visiting Tu Duc Tomb, you will have the opportunity to experience local craftsmanship at a traditional conical hat and incense-making village, where you can learn how these iconic products are made.

The journey then continues to:

  • Minh Mang Tomb – a majestic and symmetrical royal tomb that reflects the elegance and balance of traditional Vietnamese architecture.

After the visits, you will enjoy lunch before returning to Da Nang. Upon arrival, we will drop you off at your hotel in Da Nang city, marking the end of the tour.
